An abdominoplasty involves:

  • The removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower portions of the abdomen.
  • Simultaneously repositioning the navel to a new location.
  • Suturing the abdominal muscular wall when required.

It is indicated for both men and women who want to address the laxity of their skin and abdominal muscle wall caused from pregnancy, weight gain or loss and lipodystrophy. This procedure would  also effectively improve the appearance of stretch marks that may have been brought on by pregnancy or even completely remove them, depending on the anatomical location

Incisions are made low on the abdomen, at various lengths depending on the amount of extra tissue, and in such a position that they can be concealed by the patient's swimsuit or underwear afterward.

Mini Tummy Tuck

This approach is favoured usually for thiner individuals who present with laxity of the lower abdomen and no laxity of the abdominal wall muscles This procedure does not involve any repositioning of the navel

The incision and the resulting scar is similar to that left by a cesarean section

In about six weeks time the result becomes apparent as the edema begins to go down. The scars can take up to a year to assume their permanent appearance.
