It is a congenital anomaly of unknown etiology presenting with a breast under development that results in a tubular appearance. The cause of this anomaly is unknown.
The severity of the malformation varies, and it could affect only one breast or both of them. These breasts typically have an under development of the breast base (the lower pole of the breast), a large areola, and a relatively short distance between the nipple and the inframammary fold.
