Through a process known as fat grafting or autotransplantation of fat, the face and the body can be rejuvanated and volumised according to the patients needs,by using the patient's own body fat. The unwanted local fat, primarily located in the buttocks and the belly, is removed and collected. After the appropriate processing, it is transferred to other parts of the body and /or face.
The goal is to improve the quality and texture of the overlaying skin in the recipient areas, to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles and restore the volume loss of certain areas as a result of ageing. Fat has a high concentration of stem cells, primarily responsible for healing damaged tissue.
This surgery can, in some cases and depending on the patient's needs, be combined with a full liposuction in a particular area, which provides even greater benefits.

The cosmetic surgeon will deliberately introduce a greater number of fat cells than necessary ( overcorrection ) , as some of the fat will be absorbed by the body within the first three months from surgery. Therefore, the final result will be seen in two to three months once the fat cells that have survived have completed their revascularization .
In most cases, there is no requirement for further repetition.
